Getting started with Beanstack

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is online software with tools to help you and your family discover books, track your reading, and reach reading goals.

Is there an app?

Yes! Search “beanstack tracker” in the App Store or the Google Play store.

What if I don’t have the ability to log my reading online?

Stop by the library or call the library 608-348-7441 to ask about being an off-line reader.


Signing Up

How do I get started?
  • Website: Visit plattevillepubliclibrary.beanstack.com. Click on “Register an individual or family.” Follow the onscreen instructions to register just yourself, just your children, or your entire family.
  • App: Search “beanstack tracker” in the App Store or the Google Play store to install the app. Once you’ve installed the app, search for “Platteville.” Follow the onscreen instructions to register just yourself, just your children, or your entire family.

What’s the last day I can sign up for the summer 2023 library program?

Ages 0-18: Friday, August 18
Ages 19+: Tuesday, September 4
However, we recommend not waiting until the last minute!

Anyone! We have library challenges for babies, children, teens, and adults.

When can I start logging my reading and activities?

What’s the last day I can log my reading and activities?

Ages 0-18: Friday, August 18 (note: off-line readers must turn in their paper logs by 6 p.m. on Friday, August 18)
Ages 19+: Tuesday, September 5

How do I know when I’ve earned a badge?

The badge will turn from grey-scale to full color.

What do I need to do to complete my library challenge?
Challenge Ages Goal
Babies Birth to 35 months Earn 8 book and/or activity badges.
Preschool 3-6 Earn 8 book and/or activity badges.
Kids 7-11 Earn 8 book and/or activity badges.
Teens 12-18 Earn 8 book and/or activity badges.
Adults 19+ Earn 5 badges.

Completing the challenge

What happens after I complete my library challenge?

In addition to being a happier and more well-rounded individual, you’ll get a free book! You’ll also be able to enter prize drawings by age level.

How do I pick up my free book?

Ages 0 – 18: Prizes will be distributed at the Summer Finale on August 25.
Ages 19+: Stop by the first floor Ask Desk to pick up your book once you’ve completed the adult summer library challenge. The first day that you’ll be able to pick up your book is June 12.

Can I participate if the Platteville Public Library isn’t my home library?

You are welcome to participate in our library challenge. However, prizes must be picked up in person and are for those who use the Platteville Public Library as their primary library. There are thousands of libraries all over Wisconsin and the country using Beanstack: try searching the app for your local library!
