Read or listen to a book that scares you. Read or listen to a book with an unplanned adventure. Read or listen to a book that takes place during at least two time periods. Read or listen to a book that’s a retelling or reimagining of another story. Read or listen to a book that features two or more languages.
Read or listen to a book about surviving. Read or listen to a book with an unreliable character. Read or listen to a book by a debut author. Read or listen to a book set in a place you want to travel to. Read or listen to a book that doesn’t take place entirely on Earth.
Read or listen to a book that you learned something new from. Read or listen to a book that involves a plane, train, or ship. Choose one:

  • Attend a library program.
  • Convince someone to do the Summer Library Adventure.
  • Follow or tag the Library on social media, share a Library post, or sign up for the Library email newsletter.
  • Read or listen to a book from a display at the library.
  • Send a postcard to the library from your summer adventures.
Read or listen to a book that involves a mystery. Read or listen to a book whose title begins with the last letter of your previous read.
Read or listen to a book with a Midwest connection. Read or listen to a book with unrealistic elements. Read or listen to a book in a different format or a different genre than you usually read. Read or listen to a book that helps you better understand someone else’s life. Read or listen to a book with a map in it.
Read or listen to a book that someone recommended to you. Read or listen to a nonfiction book or a book based on true events. Read or listen to a book that involves a love story. Read or listen to a book where someone doesn’t survive the first chapter. Read or listen to a book set in a city that has hosted the Olympics.
