“Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got your library card!”

Photo contest rules for grades 7-12

Are you going somewhere exciting this summer? Or maybe just going to Walmart? Take your library card along with you and snap a picture of your trip. Then enter your picture in our contest for your chance at prizes.

Dates:

  • Contest runs June 13 through August 27.
  • Entries will be on display through September 10.
  • Entries not picked up by September 24 will be shredded.

Guidelines:

  • Photos must include an actual or mock Southwest Wisconsin Library System library card.
  • Photos must showcase a location (area locations count!).
  • Basic editing techniques may be used including cropping, re-coloring, and adjusting color saturation and contrast.
  • Photos must be from a single image. Objects from another photo cannot be added to your original image.
  • Judging criteria includes creativity, style, and composition.
  • A special award will be given for photograph taken the farthest distance from the Platteville Public Library.

Entering:

  • Individuals may enter multiple times but may only win once.
  • Photos may be submitted electronically or in hard copy.
  • Hard copy photos may be between 3” x 5” and 11” x 14”.
  • Hard copies must be accompanied by this form (PDF) and returned to the library Information Services Desk.

To submit photos electronically

  • Send an email to teens@plattevillepubliclibrary.org
  • The subject of your email must read “Teen library card photo contest”
  • Include your photo as an attachment. Photos should be in a .jpg, .gif, .png, or .tif format
  • The body of your email must include the following information:
    • Your name
    • Your grade in the fall
    • A phone number where you can be reached
    • The location depicted in your photo
    • The following statement (may cut and paste): “I verify that this work is my own. I understand that by entering this contest, I am giving the Platteville Public Library permission to use my submission for promotional purposes and to display my submission in the library and on library website(s).”
